Baseball Game Preview: Loyd Star Hornets vs. Seminary Bulldogs

The Loyd Star Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Seminary Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seminary took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Loyd Star, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Loyd Star was able to grind out a solid victory over West Marion, taking the game 13-10.

Loyd Star let Casen Easterling and Graham Smith run wild. Easterling went 1-for-5 with five RBI, while Smith scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in runs. Jordyn Kees was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Seminary didn't have quite enough to beat Sumrall on Saturday and fell 6-5. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Bobcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Jomarrion 'JoJo' Flowers was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Loyd Star now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Seminary, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Loyd Star beat Seminary 3-0 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Loyd Star since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
