League recap: Pentwater's Sherston delivers best pitching performance from past week

West Michigan D league recap: 6/5/13

Drew Sherston was the best pitcher in West Michigan D this week, leading Pentwater. Over the past week, he had two wins and 14 Ks.

The Falcons outpaced the rest of the league this week, as their three total wins led the league. Pentwater beat Mason County Eastern 11-1, Baldwin 18-8 and Walkerville 17-1.

The Falcons boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Pentwater scored a league-best 42 runs this week, adding to its league-leading 147 runs on the season.

The league boasted seven .400 hitters over the past week. They were led by Hunter Ruggles, who hit .750 this week (9-for-12).

The Falcons' Sherston led the league in strikeouts this week with 14. With 33 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks second in the league.



Alex Wagner was an RBI machine on Wednesday, as he knocked in four runs during Pentwater's 17-1 win over the Wildcats. He went 3-for-3 and scored three runs.

Cody Anscombe led the Falcons to a win on May 31, as he notched ten strikeouts to beat the Cardinals, 11-1. Over his five innings pitched he allowed one run on four hits.
