The 6-foot-5, 295-pound tackle from Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) now intends to sign with Auburn, verbally committing to the Tigers in a press conference this morning.

Westerman originally made a pledge to Texas back in the spring and seemed solid in his commitment until recently.

The Texas coaching staff under Mack Brown has undergone changes since then, including the addition of new offensive line coach Stacy Searels, who took over for the retired Mac McWhorter.

Losing Westerman, the No. 22 overall recruit and the the nation's No. 4 offensive lineman, is a big blow to the team's recruiting class, which began the day ranked No. 1. The Longhorns remain at the top despite the loss of Westerman. However, without landing any other top recruits, Texas is in jeopardy of being surpassed on National Signing Day.

The Longhorns' 2011 recruiting class is still deep on offensive linemen, including Garrett Greenlea and Sedrick Flowers.
