The Lake Central Indians will face off against the McCutcheon Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season.
Lake Central managed to slip by Crown Point the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Lake Central was outmatched by Crown Point and fell 80-49. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked seventh).

Despite the defeat, Lake Central got top-tier performance from Zachary Greene, who on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds. Greene's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Noah Enyeart was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.
Meanwhile, McCutcheon waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 78-44 win over the Kougars. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Mavericks had established a 31 point advantage.
McCutcheon found their leader in sophomore Brody Baker, who en route to 36 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baker has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Owen Souligne, who posted 13 points and six assists.
McCutcheon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kankakee Valley only six offensive boards.
McCutcheon's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Lake Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lake Central has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 22.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like McCutcheon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Lake Central strolled past McCutcheon when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 66-49. Does Lake Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will McCutcheon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
