Baseball Recap: Hopewell Gets the Win

Hopewell's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Ambridge Bridgers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since April 30, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Charles Smetana, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Drew Donovan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Hopewell's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Ambridge, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 4-3-1.

Hopewell wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 1-0 loss against Avonworth on the 3rd. As for Ambridge, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-0 defeat against West Allegheny on the 2nd.
