Preview: Franklin-Simpson Wildcats vs. Logan County Cougars
After 16 games on the road, Franklin-Simpson is heading back home. They will take on the Logan County Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Sunday, Franklin-Simpson faced Boyd County in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Franklin-Simpson took a 70-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Boyd County. The loss put an end to Franklin-Simpson's undefeated start to the season.
Despite their loss, Franklin-Simpson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. LaReesha Cawthorn, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Cawthorn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Kloie Smith was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Logan County posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Todd County Central 55-53. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Logan County.
Franklin-Simpson's defeat dropped their record down to 16-1. As for Logan County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Everything went Franklin-Simpson's way against Logan County in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as Franklin-Simpson made off with a 52-31 win. Does Franklin-Simpson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Logan County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
