Softball Recap: Lincoln Comes Up Short

If Lincoln was feeling good fresh off their 16-0 takedown of Liberty on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars came up short against the Petersburg Vikings on Friday, falling 17-4. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Aspen Dyer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Linville, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Petersburg, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Coincidentally, Lincoln and Petersburg will both be playing St. Marys the next time they take the field. The Vikings will host the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Cougars will play them later in the day, at 6:30 p.m.
