Recap: Landmark Christian War Eagles vs. McNair Mustangs
The Landmark Christian War Eagles entered their tilt with the McNair Mustangs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Landmark Christian secured a 50-44 W over McNair on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Landmark Christian also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Landmark Christian was led to victory by Nikolette Soden and Melody Painter. Soden scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Painter dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Painter has scored at least a third of Landmark Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Harvey, who scored four points along with two steals.
McNair's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karol Ridges, who scored 12 points. Ridges is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Amani Holmes was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Landmark Christian's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for McNair, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Landmark Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Redan at 2:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Redan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while Landmark Christian is ranked 224th). As for McNair, they will head out on the road to face off against Eagle's Landing Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Eagle's Landing Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
