Last Thursday, Turner County came up short against Mitchell County and fell 40-32.
Despite the loss, Turner County got top-tier performance from Curtis Grant, who rushed for 204 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards. Turner County also got help from Octavius Terry, who showed off his sure hands for 89 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last contest, Wilcox County made sure to put some points up on the board against Terrell County last Friday. Wilcox County simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Terrell County 41-0 on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Patriots just coasted through the last quarter.
Turner County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Wilcox County, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Things could have been worse for Turner County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 22-7 loss to Wilcox County in their previous matchup back in November of 2019. Can Turner County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
