Basketball Game Preview: Smith Valley Bulldogs vs. Pyramid Lake Lakers

The Smith Valley Bulldogs will face off against the Pyramid Lake Lakers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Smith Valley sitting on three straight wins and Pyramid Lake on four.

Last Thursday, Smith Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Sage Ridge, but they still walked away with a 42-38 victory.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pyramid Lake). They breezed by Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage to the tune of 75-21 on Saturday. The Lakers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Pyramid Lake is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Smith Valley, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.

Smith Valley was dealt a bruising 74-11 defeat at the hands of Pyramid Lake when the teams last played back in February of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Smith Valley was down 46-7.
