Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fullington Academy). They greeted the New Year with with a 64-50 win over St. George. Fullington Academy's victory was all the more impressive since St. George's were averaging only 27.27 points allowed on the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fullington Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaye Beth Womble, who went 6 of 15 en route to 20 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kathryn Akin, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds.

Fullington Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive matchups.

St. George's lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jules Gotell, who posted 16 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Knoxie Burson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Fullington Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.9 points per game. As for St. George's, with the loss, they broke their ten-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fullington Academy will square off against Grace Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. George's, they will challenge Piedmont Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
