Preview: Pearland Oilers vs. Alief Hastings Bears
Pearland is 9-1 against Alief Hastings since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Pearland Oilers will be playing at home against the Alief Hastings Bears at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Pearland is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Texas (they are ranked 221st, while Alief Hastings is ranked 963rd).
Pearland pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Strake Jesuit by a score of 57-55.
Meanwhile, Alief Hastings came into Saturday's contest having lost 14 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 41-28 win over Alvin on Saturday. The victory was just what Alief Hastings needed coming off of a 62-33 loss in their prior contest.
Alief Hastings got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Victor Okeke out in front who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Wembo Fernandes, who scored two points along with four steals.
Pearland's loss dropped their record down to 19-14. As for Alief Hastings, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-22.
Everything went Pearland's way against Alief Hastings when the teams last played back in January as Pearland made off with a 62-40 victory. Does Pearland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Alief Hastings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
