Softball Recap: Pearl Triumphs

Pearl lost to Oak Grove back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Pirates came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 5-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Lilly Byrd made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Lauryn Lee was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season.

Pearl's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Oak Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Pearl will welcome Richland at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Oak Grove, they are taking a road trip to take on Meridian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
