McGuffey was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bentworth on Thursday. The Highlanders' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bearcats a 10-0 shutout. The match marked the Highlanders' most dominant win of the season.

Lincoln Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Reno Presto was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Hildreth, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

McGuffey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

McGuffey has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Bentworth, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

McGuffey has already played their next contest, a 12-1 defeat against Waynesburg Central on the 22nd. As for Bentworth, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-1 loss against Burgettstown on the 22nd.
