The Tracy Bulldogs will head out to face off against the St. Mary's Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tracy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Tracy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Lincoln on Tuesday. Tracy put the hurt on Lincoln with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Elisa Galli spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Tracy let Ava Nelson and Emalee Cargill run wild. Nelson scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Cargill scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits Nelson has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Munoz, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Tracy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .390. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln only posted a batting average of .160.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Franklin. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly three runs.
Matea Muraoka made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Maya Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Tracy pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for St. Mary's, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tracy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like St. Mary's struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Tracy's way against St. Mary's in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Tracy made off with a 14-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tracy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
