Softball Recap: Lago Vista Has No Trouble Against Cedar Park

Lago Vista's tournament run continued when they took on Cedar Park on Saturday. The Lago Vista Vikings were the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over the Cedar Park Timberwolves. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Sabrina Phillips and Ellie Helton did most of the damage at the plate: Phillips scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Helton scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Phillips a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Mikayla Vasquez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Lago Vista pushed their record up to 4-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cedar Park, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lago Vista will welcome Austin Achieve at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Lago Vista's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Cedar Park, they will host Lehman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
