Softball Game Preview: Covenant Christian Warriors vs. Monrovia Bulldogs

The Covenant Christian Warriors will challenge the Monrovia Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Covenant Christian will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Covenant Christian's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter as they made off with a 15-0 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

Braylin Boruff made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Boruff was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Avery Bennett was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Lilly Armstrong was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Monrovia fell victim to Indianapolis Lutheran and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Saints. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Covenant Christian pushed their record up to 12-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Monrovia, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-7.
