Basketball Recap: New Bridge Academy Comes Up Short

New Bridge Academy won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They were dealt a 56-28 defeat at the hands of Varsity Opponent. The Crusaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Varsity Opponent earlier this season, when they won 40-28.

Despite the loss, New Bridge Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brody Snelson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 20 boards. Snelson is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least 17 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ross Scott, who posted nine points and six steals.

Even though they lost, New Bridge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 18 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

New Bridge Academy dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

New Bridge Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Varsity Opponent at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Varsity Opponent has already played their next contest, an 87-58 loss against Providence Academy on the 6th.
