Legend and Chaparral are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Titans will be playing at home against the Wolverines at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Legend is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Jacob Combest made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Silas Meuli, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Legend is undefeated when Meuli posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Jacob Fladebo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Chaparral faced Mountain Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wolverines came up short against the Golden Eagles, falling 11-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wolverines have suffered against the Golden Eagles since May 10, 2019.

Like Legend, Chaparral also got a great game from a two-way player: Beckett Bacon. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs Bacon has allowed since back in April. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Bacon wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Colton Pamenter, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Tommy Humphrey was another, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Chaparral's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Legend, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Legend hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Chaparral struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Legend skirted past Chaparral 5-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
