Recap: Mary Persons Bulldogs vs. Crisp County Cougars
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Mary Persons Bulldogs walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 42-20 margin over the Cougars. The win was nothing new for Mary Persons as they're now sitting on ten straight.
Duke Watson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 238 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Watson's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Stewart, who rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown.
Although Crisp County took the loss, they still got scores from Kevon Merrell, Hakeem Holmes, and Cayden Daniels.
Mary Persons' victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.5 points per game. As for Crisp County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Mary Persons will square off against Cedar Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Cedar Grove is ranked 39th, while Mary Persons is ranked 57th). Crisp County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
