Baseball Recap: McNairy Central Comes Up Short

McNairy Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Trinity Christian Academy Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 12-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2021.

McNairy Central got a good showing from Cooper Teague, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Teague has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Carter Craig led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run while going 1-for-1. Kendall Kiestler was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, McNairy Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

McNairy Central's record is now 6-4. As for Trinity Christian Academy, their record is now 3-7.

Coincidentally, McNairy Central and Trinity Christian Academy will both be playing Halls the next time they take the field. Trinity Christian Academy will head out to face Halls at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while McNairy Central will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
