Haven hadn't done well against Collegiate recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Spartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since September 15th.

Haven had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-19.

Avery Brawner paced Haven's offense, picking up 13 kills. Brawner got some help from Hadley Idacavage and her 24 assists. Brawner also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Paige O'Neil, each putting up two.

Despite the loss, Collegiate still got an impressive performance from Khloie Villagomez, who had 11 digs and two assists.

Haven now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Collegiate, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Haven wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Pratt on the 27th. Collegiate has also already played their next match (against El Dorado), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
