Football Game Preview: Myrtle Hawks vs. Strayhorn Mustangs + How To Watch

The Myrtle Hawks will face off against the Strayhorn Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Myrtle has three straight wins, Strayhorn has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Myrtle beats Strayhorn with 35 points on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Hawks claimed a resounding 35-6 victory over East Union.

Myrtle didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Korbin Waldrop, John Hunter Smith, and Harlem McClendon picked up one apiece. Myrtle got some further help from Drew Stanton: he picked up two sacks, forced one fumble, and made eight total tackles.

Meanwhile, Strayhorn was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 20-14 to Coffeeville.

Strayhorn's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Myrtle, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Myrtle strolled past Strayhorn when the teams last played back in August of 2024 by a score of 19-0. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
