Baseball Preview: Delta Eagles vs. Daleville Broncos        
        
		
            
 After three games on the road, Delta is heading back home. They will take on the Daleville Broncos at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
 Last Monday,  it was close, but  Delta sidestepped Bellmont for  a  5-4 win. That's two games straight that Delta has won by  just one  run.
  Maddox Huffman looked comfortable as he  tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive pitching appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Jacob Roach was  incredible,  firing off two  home runs and three  RBI while going 2-for-4.  Zane Cline was another key contributor,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
 Meanwhile, Daleville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  squad sidled past the Royals  5-4.
  Ethan Colvin made a splash no matter where he played. He  struck out seven batters over  seven innings while giving up  four earned runs off   ten  hits. Colvin was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
 In other batting news,  Ayden Ramirez was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
 Delta's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Daleville, their victory was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 10-7.
 The batters for both teams will have to hit smart  on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Delta has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 8.2  strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Daleville struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 9.2. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
 Delta took their  win against Daleville  in their previous matchup  back in April of 2023 by a conclusive  15-4. Will Delta repeat their success,  or does  Daleville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
