Baseball Recap: Marion Giants vs. Oak Hill Golden Eagles
Marion had lost eight straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-15 to make it nine. They fell 7-3 to the Oak Hill Golden Eagles. The Giants were not able to make up for their defeat to the Golden Eagles from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
Marion saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taeshawn Inman, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
As for Oak Hill, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.
On Oak Hill's side, they got a great performance from Noah Thompson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. Thompson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Landon Watts was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Beckham Lamb, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Coming up, Marion will face off against Kokomo at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Oak Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eastbrook at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
