Basketball Game Preview: St. Mary Catholic Central Falcons/Kestrels vs. Clinton Redwolves

The St. Mary Catholic Central Falcons/Kestrels will take on the Clinton Redwolves in a tournament on Wednesday. St. Mary Catholic Central is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

Last Wednesday, St. Mary Catholic Central strolled past Britton Deerfield with points to spare, taking the game 78-59. Given the Falcons/Kestrels' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Patriots are ranked 458th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clinton fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 64-58 W against Erie-Mason.

St. Mary Catholic Central pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points over those games. As for Clinton, their victory bumped their record up to 8-15.

Everything came up roses for St. Mary Catholic Central against Clinton in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 74-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Mary Catholic Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
