Football Recap: Bishop Moore Skates Past Melbourne Central Catholic with Ease

Bishop Moore extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 5-0. They breezed past the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers to the tune of 41-13. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won four contests by 28 points or more so far this season.

Bishop Moore got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Amar'E Johnson out in front who rushed for 163 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. Johnson is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Another signal caller making a difference was Blake McCullough, who threw for 279 yards and one touchdown on only 18 passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bishop Moore was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Melbourne Central Catholic only rushed for 130.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Bishop Moore's defense and their six sacks. Leading the way was Noah Prince with two. Blaze Allen was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles (2.0 for loss).

As for Melbourne Central Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Bishop Moore is ranked 60th).

Melbourne Central Catholic's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Noah Flores, who rushed for 91 yards on only 12 carries, and Grady Bonenberger, who picked up 77 receiving yards and one TD.

Bishop Moore has already played their next matchup, a 29-20 win against Tampa Catholic on the 26th. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Titusville at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
