Softball Preview: Lamar Texans vs. Heights Bulldogs
Lamar and Heights are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Lamar Texans are on the road again on Saturday to play the Heights Bulldogs at 12:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
After only one run in their last match, Lamar made sure to put some runs up on the board against Westside on March 1st. Lamar came out on top against Westside by a score of 13-8. Lamar's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Heights proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 18) but on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Cesar E. Chavez a 2-0 shutout.
Heights' win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Leila Ramirez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Lamar made their fans wait, but they earned their first win of the season to make their record 1-7. As for Heights, they pushed their record up to 15-9 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
