Anson hadn't done well against Monroe recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bearcats skirted past the Redhawks 54-51. This was payback for the Bearcats, who suffered a 57-42 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Monroe's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jyson Shepherd, who posted 15 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Simpkins, who had ten points and five rebounds.

Anson moved to 10-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Monroe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Anson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 69-55 win against West Stanly on the 9th. As for Monroe, they have also already played their next matchup, a 60-40 victory against Legion Collegiate Academy on the 7th.
