Baseball Recap: Newberry Comes Up Short

Newberry managed to slip by Irmo the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Newberry Bulldogs lost 8-1 to the Irmo Yellow Jackets on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Having lost for the first time this season, Newberry fell to 2-1. As for Irmo, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Silver Bluff has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.67 runs per game on average), something Newberry will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Irmo, they will venture away from home to face off against Spring Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Irmo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
