Football Game Preview: Anadarko Warriors vs. Purcell Dragons

The Anadarko Warriors will take on the Purcell Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Anadarko's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Purcell has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Anadarko is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Heritage Hall on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Warriors were dealt a 52-14 defeat at the hands of the Chargers. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Anadarko had strong showings from Farris Sutteer, who rushed for 64 yards and one touchdown, and Troy Pendarvis, who rushed for 83 yards on only 11 carries. Sutteer also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making three total tackles.

Meanwhile, Purcell ended up a good deal behind Kingfisher on Friday and lost 57-42.

Anadarko will need to focus on slowing down Deaken Dobbins, one of several Purcell players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 23 yards and three scores, and also threw for 196 yards and one TD while completing 88.9% of his passes. Purcell's leading receiver Cash Cook was Dobbins' top target yet again, picking up 74 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 81 yards on only seven carries.

Purcell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Anadarko, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Anadarko skirted past Purcell 45-42 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
