Downey is 9-1 against Paramount since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Vikings will host the Pirates at 3:15 p.m. Downey is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Downey turned things around against Warren on Thursday. They came out on top against the Bears by a score of 6-1.

Leilani Kaiwi Gonzales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sophia Hernandez was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Downey kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 9-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

La Mirada hit Paramount with a four-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates fell 8-3 to the Matadores.

Downey's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Paramount, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Downey took their victory against Paramount in their previous meeting on April 1st by a conclusive 17-6 score. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
