Baseball Game Preview: Thousand Oaks Lancers vs. Newbury Park Panthers

For the second straight game, Thousand Oaks will face off against Newbury Park. The Lancers will head out to square off against the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Thousand Oaks will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Newbury Park, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Lancers walked away with a 6-3 win over the Panthers on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Jaden Kolkowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on two hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Omar Heredia, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Matthew Magruder was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Heredia wasn't the only one making solid contact: Thousand Oaks kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Lancers are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Newbury Park has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Thousand Oaks, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.
