Basketball Recap: Durham School of the Arts Takes a Loss

Durham School of the Arts was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Vance County Vipers, falling 43-23. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 545th, while the Vipers are ranked 194th).

Despite the loss, Durham School of the Arts saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Faith Yon posted 16 points and three steals. That was a full 69.6% of Durham School of the Arts' points, marking the third time in a row Yon has earned more than a third of the team's points.

Vance County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Destiny Timberlake, who had seven points.

Durham School of the Arts' defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Vance County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Durham School of the Arts didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-43 loss against J.F. Webb on the 13th. As for Vance County, they have also already played their next game, a 45-32 defeat against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability on the 11th.
