Football Recap: Wortham Bulldogs vs. Chilton Pirates
Wortham waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They really took it to the Chilton Pirates for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won three games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Wortham had a senior duo take command as Jon Ross Black threw for 342 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 14.9 yards per attempt and Kymani Johnson gained 185 total yards and four touchdowns. Johnson also set a new season high mark in receiving yards with 149. Another player making a difference was James Johnson, who picked up 29 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Wortham wouldn't let Chilton keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Johnson was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance.
Wortham's record is now 6-3. As for Chilton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Wortham will square off against Hubbard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wortham knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Hubbard likes a good challenge. As for Chilton, they will face off against Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chilton is facing Meridian at the right time seeing as Meridian is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
