Softball Recap: Lemon Bay Sets Scoring Season-High Against Southeast

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lemon Bay). Everything went their way against the Southeast Seminoles on Tuesday as they made off with a 22-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Manta Rays considering their one-run performance the game before.

Certayn Legg made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Kylie Jones was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor Jones, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Lemon Bay hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Lemon Bay has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Southeast, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Lemon Bay will welcome North Port at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southeast, they are taking a road trip to square off against Cardinal Mooney at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Seminoles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
