Preview: Randolph Rockets vs. Houston Hurricanes
The Randolph Rockets and the Houston Hurricanes will face off at 3:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Randolph is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Randolph was the victim of a tough 54-34 loss at the hands of Blooming Prairie. Randolph has not had much luck with Blooming Prairie recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Even though Houston has not done well against Grand Meadow recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way last Friday. It was close, but Houston ultimately received the gift of a 51-48 victory from a begrudging Hurricanessquad. The victory made it back-to-back wins for they.
Houston's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emily Botcher, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Botcher continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Yohe, who scored 11 points.
Randolph bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Houston, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Randolph was able to grind out a solid victory over Houston when the teams last played back in December of 2022, winning 57-49. Will Randolph repeat their success, or does Houston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
