Baseball Recap: Holgate Takes a Loss

After flying high against Continental on Monday, Holgate came back down to earth. The Tigers came up short against the Ayersville Pilots on Thursday, falling 14-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 7-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2018.

Holgate saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zack Boecker, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Boecker has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Izzy Resendez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Holgate's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Ayersville, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-12 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holgate will host Liberty Center at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ayersville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crestview at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
