St. Francis and Cathedral are an even 4-4 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Golden Knights will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Phantoms at 7:00 p.m. St. Francis has given up an average of 28.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, St. Francis came up short against Paraclete and fell 42-35. While losing is never fun, the Golden Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 339th, while the Spirits are ranked 130th).

Despite the loss, St. Francis had strong showings from Alister Chan, who threw for 133 yards and three touchdowns, and Mason Maddox, who picked up 87 receiving yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Cathedral entered their tilt with St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They strolled past the Warriors with points to spare, taking the game 28-14.

St. Francis better keep an eye on Jaden Jefferson. He was instrumental in Cathedral's win, throwing for 224 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81% of his passes, and also rushing for 66 yards. Jefferson has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. 107 of Jefferson's passing yards were hauled in by Jalen Ross.

St. Francis dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Cathedral, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

St. Francis couldn't quite get it done against Cathedral in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 21-14. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Jefferson, who rushed for 149 yards and one score on only ten carries, and also threw for 195 yards and a pair of TDs.
