Basketball Recap: Bryan Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Bryan won the last time they faced Weiss and things went their way on Saturday too. The Bryan Vikings walked away with a 55-44 win over the Weiss Wolves. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Wolves are ranked 488th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Weiss saw an underclassman step up: freshman Krystyna Dennis dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Dennis is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. Brooklyn Williams was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Bryan's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Weiss, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-9.

Bryan will welcome Killeen at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Bryan's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Killeen has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road. As for Weiss, they will host Georgetown at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Georgetown will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Weiss surely won't give up without a fight.
