Baseball Recap: Portage Comes Up Short

Portage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 16-6 to the Northern Cambria Colts. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Colts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-5 last Tuesday.

Portage saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonah Irvin, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Lucas Gathers also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Portage's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Northern Cambria, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Portage will challenge Conemaugh Township at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Northern Cambria, they will square off against West Branch at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Colts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
