Preview: Show Low Cougars vs. Camp Verde Cowboys

Having just played yesterday, the Show Low Cougars will jump right back in to play the Camp Verde Cowboys at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Show Low waltzed into their game Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Pinon 65-43. Given Show Low's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Pinon is ranked 254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Show Low got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Preston Power out in front who scored 22 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Power has scored at least 25% of Show Low's points. Cameron Wallentine was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.

Meanwhile, Camp Verde had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 64-20 victory over Ash Fork on the road. That looming 64-20 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Camp Verde yet this season.

Show Low has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Camp Verde, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Everything came up roses for Show Low against Camp Verde when the teams last played back in December of 2018 as the squad secured a 58-29 win. Will Show Low repeat their success, or does Camp Verde have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
