Valdez is a perfect 10-0 against Hutchison since January of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Valdez Buccaneers will look to defend their home court against the Hutchison Hawks at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Valdez's tournament run continued when they took on Lathrop on Saturday. Valdez fell 48-38 to Lathrop. The Buccaneers haven't had much luck with the Malemutes recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, Hutchison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 65-22 loss at the hands of Monroe Catholic. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Rams are ranked 14th).

Valdez's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Hutchison, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Everything came up roses for Valdez against Hutchison in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 50-6 victory. Will Valdez repeat their success, or does Hutchison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
