Volleyball Recap: Robyn Ward Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Mattoon

Taylorville won the last time they faced Mattoon and things went their way on Saturday too. The Tornadoes walked away with a 2-0 win over the Greenwave. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tornadoes.

While Taylorville won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 27-25.

Taylorville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Robyn Ward led the charge by getting six kills, four blocks, and two aces. Ward is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least five every time she's taken the court this season. Alayna Vincent was another key player, getting four digs and two aces.

Taylorville's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Mattoon, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Taylorville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Pana on the 6th. As for Mattoon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Springfield on the 6th.
