Baseball Recap: IMG Academy Navy Starts Season with Win at Home

IMG Academy Navy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Central Pointe Christian Academy CPCA by a score of 5-2. The victory was nothing new for the Ascenders as they're now sitting on four straight dating back to last season.

Jeffrey Nepa made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Nepa was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other pitching news, Ryan Crowe looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over four innings pitched.

Back at the plate, IMG Academy Navy let Kes Barrios and Joonho Song loose on the outfield. Barrios scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Song scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Omari Swinton, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Central Pointe Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-2.

Coming up, IMG Academy Navy will square off against Southeast at 7:00 p.m. on February 19th. As for Central Pointe Christian Academy, they have already played their next game, an 11-2 defeat against IMG Academy Gray on the 11th.
