Volleyball Recap: Rantoul Eagles vs. Westville Tigers
Rantoul unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Westville Tigers by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Rantoul sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 23-25, 25-23.
Airiana Bell paced Rantoul's offense, picking up eight kills. Bell got some help from Lauren Herbert and her 24 assists. Kolbie Busboom controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Rantoul didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Danville on the 27th. As for Westville, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Oakland/Kansas/Shiloh at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
