Recap: Sargent Farmers vs. Creede Miners
The Sargent Farmers won against the Creede Miners last Tuesday with 61 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Sargent blew past Creede 61-15 on the road. That looming 61-15 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Sargent yet this season.
Sargent was led to victory by Fernando Venzor and Lucas Garcia. Venzor scored 16 points, while Garcia scored 15 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Garcia scored 15 or more points. Hayden Lester was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Creede struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The win was the third in a row for Sargent, bringing their record for this year to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Creede, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sargent will take on La Veta at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. La Veta will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 278th, while Sargent is ranked 79th). As for Creede, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Antonito at 6:30 p.m. Antonito is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
