It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Juab had no problem doing just that on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Grantsville Cowboys. The result was nothing new for the Wasps, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Austin Park made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Cowan, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Trevin Park was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Juab hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grantsville struck out ten times.
Juab's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Grantsville, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-12.
As of now, neither Juab nor the Cowboys have any future games scheduled.
