Basketball Recap: Mishawaka Comes Up Short

Mishawaka lost against Warsaw back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Mishawaka Cavemen were beaten by the Warsaw Tigers 71-11. While losing is never fun, the Cavemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while the Tigers are ranked third).

Millie Mammolenti was Mishawaka's leading scorer, having posted four points.

Warsaw got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brooke Zartman out in front who went 7 for 13 on her way to 22 points along with five assists and three steals. Zartman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joslyn Bricker, who went 7 of 14 en route to 16 points and five boards.

Mishawaka's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Warsaw, the win keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mishawaka has already played their next matchup (against Wawasee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Warsaw will take on Goshen at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. Warsaw knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 contests -- so hopefully Goshen likes a good challenge.
