It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Grand Island ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Hastings Tigers 4-3. The victory was nothing new for the Islanders as they're now sitting on three straight.

Grand Island's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sam Schroeder, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Grand Island hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.

Grand Island pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Hastings, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Grand Island is set to face off against their familiar foe Pius X at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Hastings will square off against rival Standing Bear at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
